The predecessor to the Tucson in Nošovice was the Hyundai ix35 SUV, with production between 2011 and 2015 reaching over 600,000 vehicles. The successful Tucson era at HMMC began in mid-June 2015. The previous generation, which rolled off the production lines for over five years, accounted for a total of 1,180,445 vehicles. The current generation of the Tucson, which underwent a facelift earlier this spring, now represents approximately 70% of the plant’s production.

The current Tucson generation expanded the portfolio of the Nošovice plant several years ago by introducing vehicles with hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines. Both alternative powertrains have seen high demand; in recent years, 2 out of 5 Tucsons have been either hybrid or plug-in hybrid models. Even after the facelift, which introduced an updated design, a new interior, and enhanced features, the Tucson remains available with a wide range of powertrains. The milestone 2,000,000th Tucson—a 1.6 T-GDi HEV in Sailing Blue Pearl, destined for a customer in the United Kingdom—rolled off the production line at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech plant in Nošovice on Tuesday, June 18.

From Nošovice to the World

“The Tucson is the flagship of our production plant not only because it makes up more than 70% of our output and has been delivered to satisfied customers in 88 countries worldwide but also because its previous generation, produced since 2015, was the project where we began to play a significant role in the preparatory phases of a new model. We started taking responsibility for the readiness of our production lines as well as for the quality of the vehicle itself. Thanks to the experience gained, we are now able to respond much more quickly and professionally to all challenges posed by the preparation of new models for production, whether in terms of manufacturing or quality,” says Martin Klíčník, Head of the Production Division at HMMC.

In addition to European countries, key markets for the Nošovice-produced Tucson include nations in the Middle East and Near East. Regarding the current generation, the largest number of Tucsons have been shipped to the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, and France. However, the SUV from Silesia also finds its way to more exotic destinations, such as Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay, French Guiana, and Martinique. Since 2020, the Tucson has reached over 70 destinations worldwide.

In the Czech market, the Tucson is Hyundai’s second most popular model. According to SDA data, 6,495 units were registered in 2023, confirming its growing popularity among Czech customers. This trend is also reflected in private sales, where the Tucson was last year’s most sought-after SUV and the second best-selling model overall, just behind the Hyundai i30.

20 Years of Tucson: Special Edition

The Hyundai Tucson made its global debut in 2004. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the brand has prepared a special limited edition to mark this milestone, featuring several exciting updates to the vehicle’s exterior and interior. Production of the anniversary edition Tucson will begin at the Nošovice plant in August.
