We handed over 24 Tucsons to regional firefighters

Twenty-four brand-new, fully equipped Hyundai Tucson vehicles in firefighter colors are now serving the needs of firefighters in the Moravian-Silesian Region. They were handed over by the Hyundai plant in Nošovice, continuing the long-term, multi-level cooperation between the car manufacturer and the Fire Rescue Service.

Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech (HMMC) played a key role years ago in the construction and establishment of the Nošovice station of the Fire Rescue Service of the Moravian-Silesian Region (HZS MSK). Every year, it also contributes significantly—over CZK 20 million—to its operation, based on an agreement made during the construction of the plant between HMMC, the Moravian-Silesian Region, and HZS MSK. Under this agreement, HZS MSK fulfills the duties of the fire rescue unit for HMMC.

By mutual agreement, this year’s financial contribution has been partially replaced by the delivery of 24 Hyundai Tucson vehicles. The Tucson, which accounts for approximately three-quarters of HMMC’s total production, is also currently the best-selling model in the European compact SUV segment. The firefighter version, in the Style Premium trim level, includes specific firefighting equipment such as light and sound warning systems and a radio unit. All of the vehicles are powered by a 1.6-liter T-GDI petrol mild-hybrid engine with 180 horsepower, a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and practical all-wheel drive—making the Nošovice-built SUV well-suited even for off-road conditions. The cars will serve as command vehicles at each of the 23 fire stations in the Moravian-Silesian Region, as well as at the chemical laboratory in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm.

“We are rightfully proud of our Tucson, thanks to its success and popularity among customers. We greatly value our long-standing and mutually beneficial cooperation with the members of the Fire Rescue Service, and we are pleased that all 24 Tucson vehicles will support them in their important and demanding service.”

Cheolseung Baek, HMMC president

“Nošovice-based Hyundai has been a reliable partner for us since it first began operating in the region. We have maintained long-term cooperation across a wide range of areas. That’s why we’re pleased that, as part of the necessary renewal of our command vehicles, we’ve received the Hyundai Tucson model produced in Nošovice, which fully meets our needs,” said Radim Kuchař, Director of the Fire Rescue Service of the Moravian-Silesian Region, who officially took delivery of the vehicles at the Nošovice plant on Monday, October 10.

Hyundai regularly organizes a variety of events together with the fire rescue services. Firefighters come to the car manufacturer’s premises for training on the construction and new technologies of the vehicles produced there, so they are as well-prepared as possible for interventions at traffic accidents. Employees and professionals also practice drills together, such as evacuations of production halls. Recently, Hyundai in Nošovice handed over 19 vehicles of various models to the firefighters for the needs of the September Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic Championship in vehicle extrication held in Kroměříž. These included pre-series and incomplete vehicles from earlier production. Hyundai in Nošovice regularly donates vehicles intended for practical training in extrication techniques to the firefighters. HMMC is also a partner of the Moravian-Silesian League of Young Firefighters in fire sport competitions.
