Hyundai Nošovice
We have launched our own solar power plant
On Monday, June 15, 2026, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech commissioned a new photovoltaic power plant at its Nošovice plant. The installation, with a total capacity of 4,999 kWp, will cover approximately 5% of the plant’s annual energy consumption and represents another step toward carbon neutrality.
The solar panels were installed on the roofs of the press shop, the pre-assembly facility, and the energy center building. A total of 9,802 panels with a capacity of 510 Wp were installed over an area of 59,654 m², which is equivalent to more than eight soccer fields. The energy generated is intended primarily for immediate consumption directly at the plant, with no plans to feed excess power into the distribution grid.
The projected annual electricity generation is 4,600 MWh. To put this in perspective, this amount corresponds to the electricity consumption of approximately 1,530 typical households. The power plant’s output is equivalent to 714 standard rooftop solar installations on single-family homes.
Launching its own electricity generation is another step along the path the company has set out on as part of its strategy through 2030. Environmental protection plays a key role in this strategy. HMMC’s ambition is to gradually move toward carbon neutrality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions across its own operations and throughout the value chain, and promote the principles of the circular economy and biodiversity.
In 2022, we became the first manufacturing plant in the Hyundai Group to source all of our electricity exclusively from renewable sources. With the launch of our own photovoltaic power plant, we are building on this commitment and now generate part of our energy directly on our premises. At the same time, we are already beginning project planning for a further expansion of our photovoltaic capacity by approximately 8 MWp.
Agile Europe s.r.o. was the contractor for the project. The investment also included the renovation of the roof cladding to provide enhanced fire resistance and the installation of a new insulated lightning protection system. This ensures greater safety for people, equipment, and the building itself during thunderstorms.
