Take Back of End-of Products

Act No. 542/2020 Coll., on End-of-Life Products (hereinafter the “Act on End-of-Life Products”) imposes an obligation on manufacturers to ensure, at their own expense, the take-back of end-of-life products and their subsequent treatment and recovery or disposal under the conditions set out in this Act. Our company, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech s.r.o., is considered a manufacturer of both tyres and batteries under this Act and fulfils its statutory obligations in the following manner.

Take back of Waste Tyres

Take-Back of Waste Tyres

At our company, environmental protection is a top priority. It is important for us that all end users (i.e., persons using products before they become waste) comply with the requirements of the Act on End-of-Life Products by not disposing of used tyres as unsorted municipal waste, but instead delivering them to designated collection points.

Collection Points

The take-back of waste tyres is carried out by our company through an individual system. As an end user, you can deliver your used (waste) tyres to our public collection points, regardless of the brand, market release date, purchase of a new product, and without any fee for this service.

Public collection points are established in every municipality with an authorized office and, in the case of administratively divided statutory cities and Prague, in every city district or municipal part. The take-back is carried out in cooperation with the operators of the collection points, with whom a written agreement has been concluded for the establishment of a public collection point. A list of public collection points is available for download here.

Please note that the operator of a collection point may refuse to accept waste tyres in the following cases:

  • If, due to contamination or serious damage, the tyre poses a risk to the health of the personnel handling the collection, or if it contains additional waste.
  • If, due to the quantity and type of tyres or other circumstances, there is reasonable doubt that they originate from an end user.
  • If the quantity exceeds the immediate capacity of the collection point.

Educational and Informational Activities

In accordance with the requirements of the Act on End-of-Life Products, our company carries out informational and educational activities aimed at end users, primarily through information campaigns regarding:

  • Ways to prevent the generation of tyre waste.
  • Methods for preparing tyres for reuse.
  • The requirement that waste tyres be delivered to designated collection points, especially to avoid disposal as unsorted municipal waste.
  • The negative environmental impacts of illegal tyre disposal outside designated collection points.
  • How the take-back system works and other relevant information.

Fulfilment of Other Legal Obligations

Our company also ensures, within the framework of tyre take-back, the minimum take-back levels of tyres as set out in Annex 2 of the Act on End-of-Life Products and the minimum recovery levels for waste tyres as set out in Annex 7 of the Act.

When selling vehicles, we also indicate separately from the vehicle price the costs of take-back, processing, and recovery of waste tyres, specifically as a separate item on the tax document in accordance with the Value Added Tax Act.

Take-Back of Waste Batteries

Take-Back of Batteries and Accumulators

Our company carries out the take-back of batteries and accumulators through the collective system operated by ECOBAT s.r.o., headquartered at Soborská 1302/8, 160 00 Prague 6, Company ID: 26725967, www.ecobat.cz     (hereinafter the “ECOBAT Collective System”).

The take-back of waste batteries and accumulators is ensured regardless of whether they are placed on the market separately or as part of, or an accessory to, other products (in our case, automobiles).

As with waste tyres, waste batteries and accumulators must not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste or landfilled. Improper disposal can lead to the release of hazardous substances into the environment, posing potential risks to human health.

End users should deliver waste batteries and accumulators to public collection points to ensure their subsequent material recovery using the best available techniques. Recycling the metals contained in waste batteries achieves significant energy and material savings of primary raw materials.

You can find the network of collection points of the ECOBAT Collective System at https://mapa.ecobat.cz/.    The interactive map provides complete information about the nearest collection point where waste batteries and accumulators can be delivered free of charge. You can filter the results by battery group or by the possibility of jointly returning waste batteries with small electronic devices.

Portable batteries can be delivered to any public collection point in the ECOBAT network or to the last retailer. Automotive or industrial batteries can only be delivered to designated battery collection points, such as the ECOBAT collection network, or to a person authorized to accept them under the Waste Act.

All batteries and accumulators can be delivered regardless of brand, market release date, purchase of a new product, and without any fee for this service.

Batteries and accumulators placed on the market by our company are marked with the standard graphic symbol of a crossed-out wheelie bin. This symbol indicates that the battery must not be disposed of with mixed waste and must be delivered to a designated collection point. If a battery contains a heavy metal, the chemical composition must also be indicated under the symbol: Hg for mercury, Cd for cadmium, and Pb for lead. Groups of portable and automotive batteries or accumulators visibly, legibly, and indelibly include information about their capacity.
