Electric Future and Broader Impact of Hyundai Nošovice
Hyundai Motor has committed to significantly increasing the share of zero-emission vehicles in its global sales over the coming years. Starting in 2035, all new Hyundai vehicles sold in Europe will be powered either by battery electric or hydrogen fuel cell technology, meaning that the company will exclusively offer zero-emission vehicles in the region. Reflecting this shift toward clean mobility, the portfolio of fully electric models produced at the Nošovice plant will continue to expand in the years ahead.
“Thanks to our high productivity and experienced workforce, HMMC plays a key role within the Hyundai Motor Group. The models we produce are popular among customers and meet the highest standards for safety, reliability, and quality. We are not afraid of new challenges or of a future shaped by eco-friendly mobility. We are the first non-Korean Hyundai plant to manufacture fully electric vehicles, which will form a significant part of our production going forward – and we are well prepared for this transition.”
Martin Klíčník, Head of the Production Subdivision
In preparation for upcoming developments, Hyundai Nošovice is investing significant resources into installing new technologies and advanced automation systems. This year, more than 40% of HMMC’s total production consists of hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and electric vehicles—a share that continues to grow. While until 2019, the plant produced only petrol- and diesel-powered cars, Hyundai KONA Electric entered production at the beginning of 2020, becoming the first mass-produced next-generation electric vehicle in the Czech Republic. In summer 2024, production of the second generation of the KONA Electric began. With the arrival of the new Hyundai TUCSON model in autumn 2020, production of hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants also commenced at the Nošovice plant. So far, around 665,000 units of this generation of the TUCSON have been produced.
Billions in Contributions to the State Budget
HMMC is a major contributor to the Czech state budget, regularly ranking among the top corporate income tax payers. In 2023, the company ranked 4th, having paid CZK 2.4 billion in corporate income tax. Altogether, HMMC has paid CZK 19.2 billion in corporate income tax since its establishment (including advance payments for 2023). From 2006 to 2022, additional contributions totaling nearly CZK 10 billion were made through employee-related payments—social and health insurance and personal income tax. These figures do not include further economic impact from the wide supplier network associated with the plant. Between 2006 and 2022, HMMC received investment incentives amounting to CZK 5.4 billion.
